A beautiful Georgia-coast wedding on a steamy September day. Congrats to the sweet couple and a huge thanks for including me.

One of the best things about my job is witnessing the sweet, excited, full-of-love-and-hope couples and hearing their stories. Weddings are such an “industry” now that they can quickly become a cliché — or for someone working in the industry, just the norm. But when it comes down to it, making the decision to walk through life together is endlessly moving. Couples like Julie and Thomas remind me of this. I loved spending an evening with them, taking some casual portraits around Hampton Park (on a quilt made by Julie’s grandmother in the 1920s!) and then over a drink at the Belmont. They’ll be getting married in a small ceremony in New York next month, followed by a big party back here in Charleston. I can’t wait to celebrate with them.
I wanted to share a few favorite black and white frames from Alex and Therin’s sweet Nashville wedding last month. I know Therin from elementary school — despite our four year age difference, she invited me to sit next to her on the bus every day after school. It was a major thrill for me, being pals with such a mature, worldly, beautiful fifth grader. This wedding was the first time I’ve seen her since, and what a treat it was to witness her all grown up for real, so happy and marrying the love of her life. Congrats Alex and Therin and thank you for having me!
Jenna and Sam were married outside the Wickliffe House on a sticky day in May. They were endlessly energetic and super sweet and they really knew how to party. Congratulations you cuties.
(Many thanks to my second shooter/assistant/partner-in-telepathy, Miss Melissa Toms.)
I thought it was a joke when I received an email many months ago from Lucy, asking me to shoot her wedding in England. Turns out she was quite serious, and back in April that email turned into a reality.
Lucy and Nate turned out to be two of the sweetest, most sincere, kind-hearted and hilarious humans I’ve ever encountered. Each and every one of their friends and family members too, we fell in love with. They’re such an apparently-close bunch and still, welcomed us with wide-open arms.
Witnessing their heart-felt giddiness on this day was truly moving and an honor to be a part of. Congratulations, Lucy and Nate! (We adore you.)
