family time09/18/12
Between both of our families, we’ve had out-of-town guests for most of September. I love having a full house. Constant activity and commotion somehow puts me at ease. My house growing up was always the gathering place, which must have instilled my homebody-but-love-being-around-people tendencies.
Although if I really had it my way, we’d all be in Italy with multiple generations living under the same roof. We’d make dinner together every night and drink strong coffee on the piazza in the mornings. I’ve often expressed this to my mom and she agrees. So maybe one day.
I just hope my desire to live in far-away places never interferes too much with my family time. (Isabel moving to Savannah was definitely a step in the right direction.)

lOVE YOUR PICTURES AND YOUR WONDERFUL THOUGHTS ON FAMILY.
These are beautiful, Olivia. I agree with all sentiments expressed, too :)
i completely agree! i tell my mom the same thing all the time!
Lovely post.
My sister is in San Diego while I’m in LA and we are about 2.5 hrs away from each other (just like Savannah and Charleston). It’s so fun to visit each other whenever we get the urge to. I hope Isabel is loving Savannah!
the butterfly photo is so beautiful! couldn’t agree more about family – being a few states away is killing me.
Such gorgeous photos. I’m the same type of “homebody with people around” person…I love entertaining having people I love in my space.
oh i couldn’t agree more!
And Italy sounds amazing. :)
LOVELY PHOTOS, THAT ALLEY WAY IS SIMPLY GORGEOUS! Having a full house is always a great feeling in my book.
tHESE ARE TOO LOVELY FOR WORDS. XO
so lovely to have friends and family visiting
If I know you right, Olivia, that Italy dream is not far from coming true ;)
These are beautiful words to accompany beautiful images. “We’d make dinner together every night and drink strong coffee on the piazza in the mornings.” That sounds simply perfect.
The last two photos are my favorite. I always love how light your photos feel. You always manage to capture the little pieces that mean something. And as for living under the same roof? I really do want my mother to live with me someday. (Admittedly, she does have some health problems.) More importantly, she is an EXCELLENT cook, and will be a wonderful grandmother (and live-in babysitter, haha) to any future children. It would be wonderful to have such a busy, loving household. … i think I know what you mean…
pretty much all my fam lives in germany, but when we get together, it’s three generations under one roof. those are my favorite times. there’s something to be said for those multi-generational households! those kinds of families know what’s good. anyway, this is beautiful, olivia!
I miss hosting family at our house. It always seems so dreadfully empty.
Your photos are amazing!
We have multiple generations living in my home, and I hope we always live close to family. I love being a homebody but having people around for adventures. There’s no one I love more than my family.
I would love it if you had your way! Family is very important to me, too. It’s sad that a lot of people in this world don’t have that. I see both sides of my family quite often, although not as often as I’d like. One of my friends even commented that I visit family a lot and she sees hers maybe once a year!
oh boy, Italy, family dinners and strong coffee – the best things ever! Have a wonderful day. xo
I love being around family too so much. your family is always the sweetest thing, i love how close ya’ll are it reminds me a lot of my family and i. : )
I do very much love the bottom image of the wall & windows!
