The sand dunes are for climbing up and running down, over and over and over.
We run so fast down the steep hills that wiping out is not uncommon. But it doesn’t matter. The soft sand breaks the fall and even on the most humid of nights, this natural wonder provides endless entertainment.

LOL! I tried sandboarding recently and ended up bruising my ass. Totally worth it though. never thought of simply running down the dune.

My mom told me about running down the dunes but I never really got to growing up. Arctic terns made a home in them before I was born and have been hanging out there since. Since they’re skittish, the wildlife people put fencing all around the dunes. There are some areas that you can still access but they’ve gone back to their “natural” state with prickly vegetation growing up in the sand.
