El Rastro is the market that takes over Madrid every Sunday. This market has anything you could ever imagine, plus some of the most fascinating people-watching in the city (which, if you're lucky, might include a grown man dressed as an infant screaming in a stroller).
I was glad I showed up early because after 11 o'clock it started to get overwhelmingly crowded (I actually saw a woman get knocked over and stepped on) but for the couple of hours I spent there, I was in awe. So many beautiful things, random things, treasures big and small. I left with a pretty hair clip and way too many photos (there was just so much to see!). Sensory overload in the best way.
